Day 1: USA to Singapore
Shortly after noon today, catch your Singapore
Airlines flight to Asia. Arrive in Singapore two days later after
crossing the International Dateline.
Day 3: Singapore
Spend the night at your hotel, the rest of the
day is free for you to enjoy Singapore before flying to Bangalore
early this evening.
Day 4: Bangalore to Hassan
After visiting Bangalore’s gardens and the
impressive Bull Temple, head towards the countryside past rolling
hills, coffee plantations and gentle streams, stopping at the
impressive Jain temple of Sravanbelagola, before arriving in Hassan.
Day 5: Hassan - Belur & Halebid -
Mysore
Visit two extraordinary 12th century temple
complexes today: Belur, once the capital of the Hoysala Empire, is
famous for its exquisite temples with intricate sculptures and
friezes that took 103 years to build! The walls of the Hoysaleswara
Temple in Halebid are covered with endless sculptures of gods and
goddesses, animals, birds and dancing girls, no two of which are the
same. This magnificent temple - guarded by a Nandi bull - was never
completed, despite 86 years of labor. Continue to Mysore, a former
capital city famous for its silk, sandal-wood and incense trade,
besides its traditions of South Indian music and culture.
Day 6: Mysore to Nagarhole National
Park
After visiting the former royal palace of Mysore,
continue south to the Nagarhole National Park, home to tigers,
elephants, sloth bears, leopards and over 250 species of exotic
birds. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive.
Day 7: Nagarhole National Park
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game
drives through the rich, tropical forests.
Day 8: Nagarhole to Madikeri
Continue your overland trip through Karnataka
state to Madikeri, the main town in Coorg, an area with misty hills
covered by acres of tea and coffee plantations, orange groves and
flowering trees.
Day 9: Madikeri
Enjoy the pleasant setting of this highland town
- visit a 19th century fort and a temple and enjoy some spectacular
views.
Day 10: Madikeri – Mangalore –
Bombay (Mumbai)
Travel through some beautiful countryside to
coastal town of Mangalore, where you board a flight to Bombay. On
your way in to the city from the airport, visit the famous Haji Ali
mosque which juts out into the sea, Crawford Market and the busy
Victoria Terminus Railway Station.
Day 11: Bombay
Visit the impressive Gateway of India monument
and then travel by boat to the Elephanta Caves , which contain 9th
century sculptures and carvings. The afternoon is free.
Day 12: Bombay to Singapore
Leave Bombay on a noon flight to Singapore,
arriving late in the afternoon. Try out one of the many varieties of
Asian food offer by food stalls throughout the city.
Day 13: Singapore
The day is free for you to enjoy Singapore, a
modern city and yet distinctly Oriental. A special visitors’ pass is
included for transportation and entrance fees to important sights
around the city.
Day 14: Singapore to USA
Your flight leaves Singapore this morning,
arriving back in the US on the same day.
